Road Safety Week 2025: How We Help Keep Your People Safe, as Well as Those They Pass Along the Way

Road Safety Week 2025 took place from the 12th-18th of May and although it’s now over, the message behind it is something we carry forward every day. This year’s theme from Brake New Zealand encouraged all of us to be road safety heroes, driving with care, looking out for others, and making the roads safer for everyone.

To show our support and help raise awareness, our team wore yellow. Safety starts with awareness and it’s something we’re proud to support here at Fleetpin. Wearing yellow was a great way to get involved and visibly stand behind the important message that road safety matters and starts with each of us.

We’re all about providing the right tools to improve your operation’s bottom line. It’s not just data. It’s visibility you can use to make informed decisions that help your business as well as protect your people and everyone around them. Safety is built into the tools and technology we provide every day to help Kiwi businesses. With features like real time tracking, harsh driving, overspeed, impact and SOS alerts, you can spot potential risks early, take action, reduce risk and respond fast before it is too late.

Safety Starts With Awareness. So How Can We Help?

Keeping people safe on the road starts with good visibility and smart prevention. It means knowing how your drivers are behaving, keeping vehicles roadworthy, and understanding the environments they travel through.

We can help you stay ahead of all of it.

Whether your team is navigating remote back roads solo or busy urban streets, we give you the oversight to act early. Speeding and harsh driving alerts flag risks before they become serious problems. Maintenance reminders help you stay on top of servicing. And with real time tracking, impact detection and SOS alerts, you can respond quickly if something ever goes wrong. Speed is one of the most reliable indicators of potentially risky behaviour behind the wheel. If someone is going too fast, chances are they’re already driving harshly, putting themselves and others at risk.

Fleetpin’s in-cab audible alerts give drivers and operators an instant sound cue when they’re speeding or driving harshly, without another screen in their line of sight. Just a clear alert to help them course-correct and keep their eyes on the road where they belong. No added distractions.

Fleetpin provides detailed reporting and insights that help pinpoint areas needing serious attention. You’ll have everything you need to raise concerns with your team and address them effectively. We also give you the option to make this information visible to your staff. Giving them a clear picture of their driving behaviour can be hugely beneficial. With transparency and real data at their fingertips, it’s easier to work together on plans to reduce risk before small issues become incidents. It’s not just about the data. It’s about action. Fleetpin allows you to step in early and make safer decisions that benefit everyone.

What Road Safety Week Reminded Us

This year’s campaign was a powerful reminder that road safety is about people. Drivers, dispatchers, mechanics, school patrols and first responders all play a part in keeping each other safe.

At Fleetpin, we took the opportunity to shine a light on how our customers are using fleet tracking technology to look after their teams. We also shared how our tools can help build a stronger safety culture by making risk easier to see and easier to manage. Road safety is not just about avoiding incidents. It is about making sure everyone gets home safe from your drivers to the people they pass along the way. The ones waiting at pedestrian crossings, riding bikes, or heading home to their families after a long day.

What Comes Next

Road Safety Week might be finished, but the work continues. To us it’s more than an annual week long campaign . At Fleetpin, we’re here to support you all year round with tools that give you control, clarity and peace of mind.

Let’s keep the conversation going. Let’s keep improving. And let’s keep making the roads safer for everyone.
