Power Jointing Ltd was founded in Christchurch back in 1998 and has since become a preferred electrical contractor to clients all over the South Island, specialising in the distribution sector of the electrical network – designing, building, and managing projects such as 400V to 33kV network construction, LV and HV underground and overhead works, industrial & commercial supplies, and street-lighting. With over 30 years of experience, PJL is a well-established group with a proven ability to successfully undertake electrical and specialty civil projects. PJL has strong values, from building long lasting relationships and supporting their clients, to a forward thinking attitude towards innovation. PJL is a Tiriti-led business, committed to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi through their principals and embracing kaupapa Maori across their practices. PJL decided to implement GPS tracking as a health and safety measure, to ensure the safety of their staff and fleet. They conduct contracts across the wider Canterbury region, including remote rural areas. PJL chose Fleetpin in 2020 after having been with a well-known international competitor, as they like to try and support NZ owned and operated businesses like themselves. As a contribution to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi, PJL aims to use as many local businesses and products as possible. PJL found that Fleetpin’s usability and customer service was eye-opening in comparison to their previous GPS tracking provider, and utilise a range of Fleetpin’s features: Compliance Reminders PJL uses Fleetpin to keep their fleet safe and legal with reminders for WoF, RUC, registration, mechanical service, and more. The web app shows reminders at a glance as well as a detailed report, identifying which vehicles require attention. Activity Reporting Fleetpin’s detailed activity reports provide a complete list of trips with start/stop addresses, times, distances, and hours. This makes for easy timesheeting and seeing where your assets have been, and where they are. PJL’s General Manager, Rawiri Karena, shares how the business values having one user-friendly system where all their fleet management can be conducted in one place, and not requiring a lot of admin to be able to effectively operate their business. “[Fleetpin is] user friendly and easy to learn, it’s a massive help to our business and my employees using it on a day-to-day basis. It doesn’t require a lot of admin to be able to effectively operate, unlike other systems we have used in the past”
